Step 1: initial information
Select the date when your vehicles will go out and the schedule during which your vehicles will be in the street. After that click on Next. For more information about what you can select in this section you can read the Initial information article.
Step 2: import visits
The visits are the places where you have to go for the day so as to make your deliveries. You can enter your visits one per one in the interface (more information in the Import visits section), download an Excel file (more information in the Import visits via Excel article) or through integrations with other systems.
To make it easier to understand, you can load the Excel file attached at the end of this article called "Example small demo". Download the file, click on Import visits and load the file.
Once it is loaded, you will be able to see the addresses on the map. What you are seeing are not the routes but the distributions of the points on the map. Click on Create routes so as to continue and the system will calculate the optimized routes using the 2 vehicles we selected at the beginning.
Step 3: results of the optimization
Ready! Your routes have already been created. What you are seeing can be divided in three sections:
- On the map you will see the routes suggested for each vehicle with the order they have to follow from the direction of origin to the return to it.
- In the top section you will see summary indicators such as how long on average are your vehicles in the street or which percentage of your fleet your are using.
- In the left section you have the detail of the route which every conductor will have to follow.
You can click on every route so as to see more information such as the approximate hour of arrival for each visit or the time spent in the street.
From this interface, you can not only check the results of the optimization but you can also modify the routes. Among these possible modification you can edit addresses moving them from one route to another, create new routes. For more information you can check the Route edition (part 1) section or the Route edition (part 2) section.
Click on Export if you want to download your results in an Excel file or on Finish to assign your routes to the conductors on their mobile application.
Final step: assign routes
Clicking on Finish, a final assignation window will be opened. Choose which conductor will drive each vehicle and give a name to the Plan. A plan is combination of routes assigned to conductors. When you will want to edit the route of a conductor, you will have to look for the plan he has been assigned to. Give it a name that makes sens such as "Routes of october 25" for example. Clicking on Confirm, you will send the routes to the system.
Congratulations! You created your first routes and your conductors will be able to check them on their mobile devices so as to start working. You can decide Continue editing the current plan if you want to modify and send it back to the conductors, Route design going back to the Route creation module or go to Fleet monitoring going to the Fleet tracking module.
